For all of those who love everything gardening, the River Hills community garden is trying to restore itself in time for the planting season. Our club, USF Rotaract, also owns a couple of plots in this garden due to the fact that we repaired the garden a year ago, so if you want to try out your green thumb come join. All food grown here by us goes to our food pantry partners. . . . Meet at 8am at 803 W River Dr, Tampa, FL 33617, dress for the weather and wear closed toed shoes. . . . - 2:00 PM1h 30mQuilting Our History: An Exhibit of Quilts by Lauren AustinThe USF Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies is proud to host an art exhibit this semester, Quilting Our History: An Exhibit of Quilts by Lauren Austin, which will open on Monday, February 12. . . . . Lauren Austin is a Florida-based storytelling artist who has worked for over 30 years in the medium of quilts. Austin’s work merges her own life story with that of Black history and cultural memory. Her quilts are large-scale mixed media pieces, incorporating photographic processes, stone lithograph, beading, hand-stitching, and hand-dyed fabrics.. . . . There is an open house reception on 2/12 from 2:00-3:30pm in CMC 202. Additionally, there will be two free companion events – a fabric artbook workshop on February 21 and a public lecture on February 22.
