- DescriptionThe talk will be an examination of encoding and decoding methods for communication, error correction, and types of codes. We will discuss different methods of transmitting data and the tradeoffs that come with it. We will also examine what happens when transmitting data goes wrong. More technically, we will discuss the definition of a code, the binary symmetric channel, Hamming codes, and signal decoding.. . . . Prior knowledge of linear algebra and abstract algebra is helpful but not required for comprehension.
