First-Generation College Celebration (FGCC) is celebrated annually on November 8 to commemorate the signing of the Higher Education Act (“HEA”) of 1965 by then-President Lyndon B. Johnson. This act created federal financial aid programs to fund students’ educations and made key investments in colleges and universities. BSB is a USF Tampa campus alternative service break that allows students to engage in meaningful experiences as they understand their role within a community and their relationship with service. Participants work alongside communities to look for root causes of social issues and evaluate their impact on the community. By participating with BSB, students earn volunteer hours, network, build leadership skills, gain new friends, explore new places, and serve a community. Other institutions participating in Skyway 2024 include The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, the Sarasota Art Museum, and the Tampa Museum of Art. . . . .
